Unleashing the IdeaVirus by Seth Godin Godin believes that we need to teach our customers to market to each other. We need to get influential users excited about our products and services, and then we need to get out of their way.

Buzz is the new way to sell software, and everything else. Godin's ideavirus is a particularly effective variety of buzz. Under this marketing technique, we create an idea that grows and infects everyone it touches. For example, give people free email accounts, and require that their signature file be an advertisement for your free email service. Every time somebody sends an email, they spread your ideavirus.
